I've heard a few people mention hanging from cars - I've got a very small car (Ford Fiesta, W reg) - I can see that if I trapped one end in the car door that'd work, but what would you use from the other side other than a tree for field camping?

Make one side of a hammock stand or just make the whole thing and be done with it. http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=19517

"Holy Snot" .... now there's a term you don't hear everyday.
Hanging form a vehicle is a neat idea. Hennessy has a good pic of a couple of American squaddies hanging their hammocks between two humvees in the Iraqui desert http://hennessyhammock.com/sp-soldiers.html.
Any thing that is secure and will allow attachment at about 4 feet is fair game. Last month, I found this site with an abandoned trailer. Not scenic, but convenient for a quick nights rest before hitting the road again for my real destinaton. The webbing passes around the roof of the car, through both back windows. mariposa_hang.jpg
