I'd like to purchase 4 carabiners for my back up hammocks. I want them to be strong enough to hold up to 250 lb. minimum, but I don't want to pay top dollar ($5 or more a piece). Any of you know where I could pick up such bargain carabiners?

Whoopieslings.com. Carries climbing rated CAMP Nano carabiners at I believe $5.50 ea. When I was shopping for carabiners they were the cheapest that I found.

Keep an eye on steepandcheap.com
They sometimes carry climbing rated biners for less than $5
Need a bunch myself.
The Nanos would be my recommendation as well. Think of yourself (or a friend/loved one) being dropped on a sharp rock or stick when sleeping.
It's worth a few dollars to buy name-brand climbing biners for suspensions, IMO.
Save the weak biners for tarps and hanging gear.
Nano's or Mad Rock would be my suggestion if you are looking for climbing rated biners. As was mentioned Steap and Cheap, or REI with one of their coupons I think you could find them at or just below 5$ a piece if you did a little searching.

It's always best if your an early riser!
$5 is about as cheap as they get for a reliable hanging biner. Not worth it to save a buck and be on the ground at midnight.

I just grabbed D carabinets at EMS for $5 each
Thanks everyone for your feedback. I went ahead and ordered 4 carabiners from Whoopiesling.com. $5.50 a piece, but shipping cost was low. Thanks again for your help!
You can have light or you can have cheap biners. The camp nano 23's are the smallest and lowest weight biners I've found. I repleaced my standard biners with them and love them. They are more around $7 though. you can get a $5-6 biner, but it won't be small or light. at that point, you might as well get a heavy quick link from the hardware store if cost is your main concern...spend the extra few bucks for the nano 23's in my opinion, you only want 4 so it's not that much.
