This video is a combination of gear talk, and hike report. Business recently brought me to northern New Mexico and a chance to hike in the Pecos Wilderness, northeast of Santa Fe. I report on my hike up to 11600 ft elevation (quite a stretch for a Flatlander like me) and Lake Katherine, including descriptions of what I carried this time with a base weight of less than 12 pounds. Of course this includes my own lightweight DIY bridge hammock! There's nothing revolutionary about my path to a lighter base weight---but I go through it all anyway.
