To steal from Cannibal: "Warbonnet...duh!"
I gots another question for you... Who's ready? Knots. I've never learned a bowline or a sasquatch twist or anything. Is there a place where there's all the basic knots used in Hammocking on one page? Or am I going to have to do some actual work?
Love this site!
Trust nobody!
If you buy a blackbird, you probably won't need to learn any knots. Get the webbing/ring buckle suspension, buy a pair of lightweight climbing carabiners from REI, and you have a knot-free hammock hang. Use some Figure 9's to tighten your tarp lines, and you'll be a hammock hanger without having to learn anything more complicated than tying a shoe
Both of those responses are why I love the internet. More specifically these forums lol. Thanks guys.

I got my blackbird yesterday... IT IS AMAZING... make sure you get some sort of insulation both top and bottom!!!

I'd definitely map out your budget across a few things...
Hammock - million choices - net? back sleeper, side sleeper, etc
Tarp (how big? cut? etc)
Insulation (bag? pad? quilt? UQ?)
Straps, stakes, Figure 9's, etc - all the little stuff
I picked up a SBPro last spring from a forum member and an inexpensive tarp and have been very happy - probably have around $100-125 invested so far. Now I'm looking at another hammock so I can let my wife use this one and an UQ for cooler weather...
And while straps are nice - it's still a good idea to learn a few basic knots
