i just got back from the first time using a hammock on the north country trail in mi. It got down to 28 and i boiled some water and threw it in the bag in a bottle it works great stayed toasty warm like a little heater in there. i have one of those aluminum bottles and when i woke up at like three for the call of the wild it was still warm.
Came back from a trip. Two nights down to 27 degrees. I made hot water bottles both nights to warm up quilts and then slept like a baby the rest of the night. I even made one for another camper who was cold the first night. Why be cold ?

I use this trick all the time. I once almost got hypothermic while camping in Colorado. A sudden cold rain came on and I wasn't prepared. I had to set up my shelter, but I was able to boil some water and get out of my cold clothes. I love this trick, and it's super easy with something like a bushbuddy stove 1100ml pot and nalgene bottle.

I always use a Hot Water bottle to keep warm at night. I was thinking of making my Camping name Ice Man, because I am always soo cold. This is the best method ever, before I climb into my hammock I heat up a full bottle of water and it is my best friend all night.
We always skipped the hotwater and filoed it with schnapps... keeps you VERY warm

I think it is human nature to be an information provider. Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation floating around. So, I used the Nalgene bottle method to see if it really works. I am a believer. It worked much better than I expected. Great tip!
I will defiantly keep this in the back of my mind for the 3 cold days down here in florida. lol
