I finally got a chance to get out and field test some of my new gear including my DIY "Dirty Bird" danger bird/hennesy hybrid.
Being that the hammock is a dual layer tablecloth, it's not exactly light but man is this thing comfy. It was a rather precarious hang for the first field test (it's been tested at home) as I was hanging on the edge of a 30 foot or so drop. Everything on/for the hammock was DIY including the suspension/tree straps. Most of the materials were purchased from Scott at DIY gear supply. He is great to deal with and has awesome prices.
My stitching skills are not great but they are'nt terrible either and I think it turned out quite good.
The winter tarp I'm making is almost done and will be field tested along with my DIY UQ and offset stakes hopefully in about a month. The stakes were another members idea, Alamosa, and I just tweaked them a bit. I also have a single layer 30D ripstop bridge hammock in work.
