It's getting to be that time of year when you can take off your bug net and enjoy the crisp Fall air. It's 48 degrees here this morning. YAY!

Surely, God could have made a better way to sleep.
Surely, God never did.
Ok what does "shoulder season" mean? Is it the term for cooler months? Where did it come from?
I think I may hafta disagree though. I just spent Wed night on the trail in Missouri swimming in a pool of sweat. It was 87* at 9pm and only got down to a low of 71*. A far cry from fall for sure. Now I understand why some people don't camp in the summer. Makes me appreciate the Appalachians that much more. At least it gets down in the 60s there during the summer.
I think I may hafta make a trip up towards your neck of the woods when I get home and enjoy some of that crispy fallness.

Ha!! Man, 87 at 9 pm sounds brutal! Bet you were glad to be in a hammock, anyway. Shoulder season is the time between the hottest and the coldest seasons. It's been hot up here too, but the weather really broke overnight. That's why it feels so great. Hope you find some relief soon, too!

I wish I was up in Yancey Co. hiking among the remaining Hemlocks, checking out some great waterfalls. But, 65* at 10:15 north of Atlanta in early September is great just hope it stays.
Hammocking, car camping, backpacking, kayaking, and mountain biking. Getting in touch with nature is getting expensive. Good thing I can DIY!

Ahhh my backpacking season has finally started! I love this time of the year.
It has broken into the upper 70's for a low only this week here in south Florida. It's 90 by 9:00 a.m. with a heat index of 100. This won't begin to change for another month. I'm headed to New Hampshire in a few weeks.
