Awesome report.
Awesome report.
Thanks! Really looking forward to this weekend!
Yeah...if it were a motorcycle, I'd be a little annoyed. For a pedal bike, though, especially a stock transmission on a $250 bike, it's impressive.
I'm glad the trip went as smoothly as it did, too. I needed some time off to relax, and this one was definitely the ticket.
Me, too. Despite my hopes for more folks coming out, I think that having the weekend to myself was probably for the best.
Meditation-in-motion and communion with nature are two of the best ways for me to recover my mental balance. I had both on this one.
I'm hoping I can make Grinder's Birthday Hang, but it really depends on what time the game is that weekend. If we're gonna get hit at work in the middle of our normal rush time, there's no way my boss is going to let me take off. Ah, we'll see...
And, even if I don't make that one, I'm going to try and make it all four days at the 3rd Annual Hang...
Thanks, MAD777! I love all three songs in there; my music collection tends to run towards such things.
It's always easier for me to do videos on solo trips; I have no one else to talk to but the camera . Somehow, I always wind up distracted at group hangs and trips with friends...
Thanks!
Bookmarked the vid to wat later but the write up alone was a great read!
All that wildlife around that close is really great. Had a deer walk through camp at about 5 yards away from me a couple of weeks ago too.
Thanks for sharing!

Great report. I really enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us!
The Hotter Than Heck Hang has a good ring to it! lol The camera mount worked great and it was good to see a bike type trip report – don’t see many! Porch mode using the bike will come in handy one day, thanks for that little how to do! Thanks for the video, FLRider, it was interesting AND informative!
Thanks!
I was puzzled by that much wildlife coming through the campground. I mean, the raccoon I get; he's used to rooting through folks' stuff to find food. The doe, though? I got nothing. If she was used to being fed by the campers, I'd expect her around dusk or dawn, not at four in the morning. And the armadillo, well, that's not too surprising. It was just the confluence of all of 'em within an hour or two of each other that was funny to me.
Hope you wind up enjoying the video!
Thanks.
Tried a couple of new camera tricks this trip, and I'm fairly pleased by how they came out. I'm thinking of investing in one of those little GorrilaPods for my bike trips; it seems like it would come in handy as a mount some of the time. We'll see how that turns out.
And alliterative!
Not a problem. The bike porch mode mod should work just fine with pretty much any bike; I've not seen one (aside from some of the carbon fiber prototype racing bikes) that doesn't have a wider ring at the bottom of the seat post where the post slides into the frame. If yours doesn't have that, though, it might be worth putting a bit of duct tape or electrical tape on the stem to give the guyline something to grab. Otherwise, it'll slide down as far as the frame'll let it.
Looking forward to your next adventure down there in Oz, Bruciehi5!
Mighty fine trip report and video. You are critter bait it seems.
Always good to be in the wildlife's hood. Often you see more in campgrounds than in the backwoods.
That heat would have un-done me!

Thanks, Shug!
The heat wasn't too bad: the bike always has a breeze, and the springs are nice and cold. The river never gets above 75 for the water temps (about the only way to avoid the gators in fresh water down here), so tubing is nice, too. Also the campground has showers, so a nice cold shower before bed helps a lot.
I think all of those animals came into camp because they couldn't see you for all of the camo.
Nice video and report. I was expecting to see more people as I originally thought that this was a group hang. I'm glad to hear that you were so close to cool water.
looked like a great trip! Thanks for sharing!
