    new to hanging

i just got my skeeter beater pro, hoping to get in to this, have alot to learn, but it looks like there is alot of great ideas here
i think it might be too big, i cant see out of it, i feel like im wrapped up in a coccoon. trying to lay sideways?? not sure how that works, it keeps squeezing back to straight. and its hot, after moving around trying to get comfy, i am working up a sweat, maybe in cooler weather it will be better?

I had a Skeeter Beater Pro once....as I recall, it did have a pretty wide body, but it did have the netting way above you. The best way to figure out the lay is to start out laying right down the ceterline from end to end. Then, shift your shoulders a bit to either the right or left. Next, move your feet the same amount in the opposite direction.

The fabric of the hammock will form a wall on the side you moved away from, while the side you moved toward will seem lower (because your head is now closer to the edge of the fabric. If it feels a bit closed in, bend a knee to spread the hammock (I don't remember if the Skeeter Beater Pro had side tie outs...if it does, stake them out, and you won't need the knee trick)

As for the heat, you can either use a fan or get in it wet to have something evaporating, of adjust your tarp (if you have one up) to try and catch the wind. Regardless, I guarantee the hammock is better ventilated than a tent in the same conditions. Once you're laying still, you'll feel any breeze beneath you, which helps cool you down.

I have the same hammock. make sure you hang it correctly. You can not hang it level or it will wrap all around you. the straps must be about 6-7 feet off the ground on trees spaced about 15-18 feet apart. You want about a 30 degree angle on the straps. I use a woopie sling on each end to make final adjustments. Then I lie on the diagonal. It seems to make a big difference. The first night in it before I knew anything, I slept straight and suffered the dreded shoulder squeeze. Have at it, and try all kinds of set ups until you hit on the one for you. Good luck.

Welcome from Florida. Using the SB Pro. It does have side tie outs. Recommend them as the body of the hammock is very wide and the netting is extensive (almost to much). The upside is its reversible. When you don't need the netting just flip it over (assuming you rig a removable ridge line)
