Search for the "turtlelady" or "turtledog" stands. Both work very well.
Consult the "hammock calculator" for the correct pole height based on your chosen length.

What kind of hammock do you anticipate using?

Does it need to be a stand? A couple of pressure treated 6x6 cemented posts the appropriate distance apart will get the job done too. You just give up portability.

check out my pics and see if it suits your need. It is not hard to make but it takes two people to set it up. it sleep 3 hammocks. I got the plans from "The Ultimate Hang: An Illustrated Guide To Hammock Camping"
I saw this hammock stand today and really liked it for a suitable multi-use yard accessory. I'm even thinking of making a 3-sided or 4-sided version that would go over a garden area, etc.

This has always been a favorite of mine, if I had the yard space. I like the clean lines and how easy it would be to make. They did an excellant job on their blog documenting everything about it.

Those are beautiful! I think I have a better chance of convincing my wife to let me do something like that in our yard over some cemented 6x6s!
