I'll be there again, might leave the boys home this time. Too much time worrying about them and not enough time relaxing.

Wouldn't miss it! Thanks for putting up early so I could put on my calendar!
Hmmm over a month later than last years, and coming up toward the end of the 3rd quarter... I'll have to see what I can do with the schedule. Thanks for posting the date early!

For us newbies.... could you post some more specific details like where exactly this is (what state, what trail) and any other things we need to know?
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Gathland State Park. Funny what you can find out on Google. I'm going to make tentative plans to attend since I've never been to Maryland before. Any of the NC hangers want to look into carpooling up to that one?

The MAHHA Hang will be located, again, above the shelter at Crampton Gap on the AT in Maryland. This is a very low key event with nothing structured other than a Saturday night BBQ. There is plenty of parking at Gathland State Park, the shelter is only about a half mile walk to the site, there are plenty of places to hang, water is available at the spring at the shelter or from a faucet across the road from the parking lot. There is a privvy at the shelter and there are also bathrooms in the park across the road from the parking lot. A covered pavilion is located in the park for our Saturday BBQ and as a place to gather if the weather turns really terrible. We will mark the trail from the lot to the site with orange ribbon. The trail is easy to follow and several folks, including NCPatrick and his daughter, Tinkerbell, walked in in the dark.
We had 20+ hangers at the Spring hang consisting of inexperienced and very experienced hangers of all ages using many different types of hammocks, both commercial and DIY. It's a great place to have fun and learn. The Jacks have agreed to attend again, and many of us really benefited from their friendly and experienced advice; so, this hang would be a great opportunity for both experienced and novice hangers to attend.
We'll put up directions as we get closer to the time of the hang so, pencil in the dates on your calendars. If you need directions earlier, do a search under Redtail since he put up the directions last time.
