"HANGING OUT" has taken on a whole NEW MEANING
Morain View State Park is just about an hour from me, but I've never been there. The Illinois DNR page says about it
I like the part about primitive campsites along a hiking trail! Two half-mile trails (one is a self-guiding nature trail) are part of the hiking system at Moraine View State Park. Another trail, moderate Tall Timber at 1.5 miles, has 10 primitive campsites along its route. Join the birdwatchers who find Moraine View such a great place to engage in their hobby. Wood ducks and Canada geese nest here, and beavers have been known to build a dam or two. From its rolling terrain surrounding the lake, to its woods, prairies and marshes, Moraine View is a pleasant spot for a day of hiking.

The only problem with "primitive camsites along the way" f they are like other areas around here they are clear of Trees so we would have to set up hammocks deeper back beyond the site
About 2 hours South For Me

Is that Shawnee national forest? I will google it.
An emergency of my own making...is still an emergency.
Ouch. 3 1/2 hours for me.

I was just there 2 weekends ago ,Plenty of trees to hang from on the backcountry trail. Not a very long trail though, If anybody has any other ideas sound off. Im open for suggestions as for as dates go
I may be interested if it's a spring thing. Sooner and I'd probably be booked up with scout stuff.
Does anybody want to get together for the 1st annual ILLINOIS hang maybe this weekend or next,We could goto morain view or some place else, I was thinking thanksgiving weekend because its a long weekend. Hopefully we can get professor hammock to show up and teach a class.
My wife is recovering from major surgery and so I'm needed at home at nights for a while. But if you all did get a gathering going at Morain View one of those weekends I could probably pop over on a Saturday to say hello, bring some of my toys along. Probably have a 10-year-old son in tow.
