While I wait for USPS to deliver my toggles from Opie I made temporary ones from schedule 40 1/2 inch PVC pipe. 600PSI pressure rating seems to be fine for now
Any other ideas for toggles?

I used a tire pressure gage that had a steel housing. My current toggles are made from a crossbow arrow I got at Academy Sports and outdoors for $1.99. it was the 22'' arrow and my brother and I each got a pair of toggles from that.

Lowes has aluminum tubing pretty cheap. I am going to try that hopefully this weekend.....I already have some in the basement.
some guy on here uses cut up lengths of plastic clothes hangers.

RE! carry's two aluminum tubing sizes( both in an anodized gold) aprox 1/2" and 5/8" o.d. both area about 6 inches long and come in about 1.50 each. but for me, i'll be skipping store bought hardware for a twig scrounged up from the camp site.
I am currently using an easton tent stake that I picked up at REI for 2.50$, I think. Here it is. To cut it down, I used a small tubing cutter that I picked up from Lowes for about 5$. I also used it to cut some toggles out of some old arrows I had laying around, but I like the stake ones better. The tubing cutter works real good for making them, but a hacksaw would be fine too, although the cut may not be as clean.

I have one that's a cylindrical metal whistle (multipurpose item FTW), and my other one is a thick nail that I cut down with a hacksaw.

Thanks for all the input and ideas. Just tried out the pvc toggles. Worked flawlessly, however they are so wide an extra turn in the marlin spike hitch loop is needed to help it lock down and not slip.
In and unrelated observation I saw the yarns just at the end of the bury facing the eye of my whoopie slings were stretch out a bit...it held fine but my question is...is that normal? or did i not milk the bury enough before applying a load?
