Sorry if I've missed a post answering my question, but I did a search and found how to construct the whoopie sling, but couldn't find specifics on length.
To make a short story long -
Last night I took my son for an overnight trek and spent a miserable night for myself.
I have a new ENO Pro hammock and Eno Slap Straps for myself. The hammock was not nearly as comfortable as on my previous trip, the material seemed to be too "bunched up" toward the ends. I think perhaps the carabiner threaded through the channel sewn in the material is at least partly to blame. I'm guessing the rigid 'biner wouldn't allow the fabric to slip/give and adjust itself to even out the load bearing with my weight in the hammock????
I also was up in the early AM adjusting the hang of the hammock as the slap straps stretched while I slept.
I came home this morning an got online and ordered some 1/8" amsteel.
I plan to remove the 'biners and attach a whoopie sling to the hammock!
I will probably use the slap straps to attach at the tree - but I will attach the whoopie sling as close to the tree as possible!
I also need more information on how to attach the whoopie sling to the hammock. I see in the video a simple overhand knot in the doubled line was used, but would burying a length of the amsteel inside itself at the hammock end of the sling to form a loop have any advantages/disadvantages to an exposed knot?
