Announcing the annual summer MIDHHA Hang!
The event will be held July 18-21, 2024 at the Minister Creek Recreation Area on PA State Route 666, in the Allegheny National Forest. We’ll be hanging in a series of primitive campsites in the woods just south of the parking lot. This is essentially car camping, though you will need to transport your gear down a short footpath to the camping spot along the creek. If you've got a wagon, it’s worth bringing it.
This is a more intimate and laid back group hang with no raffle or organized events, but there are opportunities for taking in some scenic vistas on the Minister Creek hiking loop and decent fishing spots on the Tionesta Creek just a bit further down the trail. Since we're camping on public land, there are no fees associated with the event, though you're welcome to chip in a few bucks for firewood if so inclined. An outhouse is available at the paid campground just across the road from the parking lot. We mostly fend for ourselves at mealtimes, but making extra to share is never discouraged!
Several of us will be arriving on Thursday to stake out the group area, but everyone is welcome to join in as their schedule allows. As always, whether you're a veteran hanger, newbie, ground dwelling heathen, or even if you just want to drop by and check out what hammock camping is all about, ALL ARE WELCOME!

Also, for anyone who's interested, I stopped by The Hammock Hanger's Podcast last year to discuss the origins of this hang. You can find that episode here. There are almost certainly better uses of your time, but likely worse ones as well.
