Me and Hitch, drank lots of coffee and tea, warming up with a campfire. Our backpacking was pleasantly delayed with a multitude of trail runners.
They had quite the event! Some of them ran 20 miles and other brave souls ran 40 miles.
More than one of them completed 40 miles in less than 10 hours.
I spoke to some runners. I said I got a 40 year head start on you, and now you’re passing me!
With that a lady runner said she was age 50.
I said. “That’s a lie”
She smiled. She was in great shape and looked like mid 30’s
Not many overnight campers this weekend. Predicted low was 28*
Made hot drinks in am taste extra good
I slept warm, with 20* quilts and two stick on HotHands stuck on longjohns at my ankles.
And two bean bag HotHands in my pockets
Around 230am got too hot, took bean bag hot hands out of hammock to cool off
Then at 330am added them back into my pockets.
My feet were cold in morning during breakfast.
Began hiking out with many layers. After twenty minutes broke a sweat and put extra layers in pack
Once I’d broken a sweat, my core temperature was much warmer than during breakfast, and my feet were no longer cold.
Many thanks to Hitch for making this a pleasant camp. During our Executive meeting we discussed revoking hammock cards of all you who didn’t go with us. But I had a rare moment of generosity and tabled the motion, some of you are now on 21 day probation. After which your hammock cards will be cleared of your infractions.
Think ahead to Valentines Day, get your girls and all y’all’s kids some Valentines gifts or else your hammock card will be useless, when your person card will be torn up and deactivated. Plan ahead!
