Is this anywhere close to right? I had to loop the strap twice around the trees to keep it off the ground.hammock1.jpeghammock2.jpeghammock3.jpeg

If you haven’t been to this calculator, it’s worth a look.

There is even an app for download. It was worth the few bucks for me to get consistent hangs.
Kinda hard to tell, get a different potato or add more pixels. You should be able to clip the hammock up higher (closer to the tree) on the daisy chain.
How far apart are the trees?
Good starter info HERE.
Also check out Shug Emery on YouTube. TONS of great info.

Yea its hard to tell from the pics. Looks like a pretty steep angle to me on the straps.
The 30 degree hang angle used as a guideline- should be roughly what your thumb and forefinger make in an "L" I believe. Maybe use that as an eyeball meter for the strap angles, and then see how the hammock feels.
If it seems uncomfortable, change the angle on the straps/suspension and try again to see how it feels.
Look for trees 14-16 foot apart. Start by placing the tree strap about head high (double wrapping around the tree is fine, I sometimes wrap more). Center the hammock between the trees using your daisy chains. Check for the magical 30* angle (make a gun with you thumb and pointer finger [thumb is the tree and pointer is the ground] to get 30*). If the hammock is too low, raise the straps on the trees. If the angle is incorrect, make adjustments on the daisy chains. Practice makes perfect.
Between the trees and above the ground.
If it holds you up it is a good start.

Whooooo Buddy)))) All Secure in Sector Seven
Have fun, fiddle with it, learn by playing.
Maybe add a fixed hammock ridgeline about 83% of total hammock length.
Papa Smurf of Dream Hammocks has a good YouTube video on adjusting straps to get your desired height off ground, good sag-around 30* straps and desired tension of hammock ridgeline.
Lol my ridgeline made from 1/8 amsteel (overkill I know) is way more taut than Papa Smurfs video shows. Oooops!
And Shug has some great videos on hammock suspensions and how to hang your hammock-packed with information and entertainment.
Shug is the number one stop for TONS of great info for sure Screenshot 2020-11-03 at 11.43.00 AM.png

the hammock is on the ground if not wrapping the strap twice around the tree, wondering how often that happens. Or does that mean the trees are too close together? There seemed to be a few feet on either end of the hammock and it is 11 ft long. I remembered something about the 30 degree angle but didn’t remember which direction the thumb points, thanks for the advice it will be easier to remember this way!
