I didn't know Marty personally, I only spoke to him by phone- barely 2 weeks ago. I don't know if his passing was sudden/unexpected, but my sincerest condolences to his wife and family.

I, like a lot of others never met Marty, but had lots of interaction via phone/email. Seems he treated everyone he spoke to as a friend. WL is a great company with great customer service. Condolences to the WL family.

Just talked to him on the 15th before a canoe trip on the 18th and he made sure I got my Tadpole poly blend door kit and pole mod in time. Almost all of my gear is from WL as he was my go to guy. Such sad news.

I don't get on here much anymore, I was googling trying to get on his website today and found he had passed away. I talked to him a lot over the years. I have a closet full of his gear, that I will cherish forever. He is the guy that helped me the most when I first started hammock camping. I will truly miss you Marty, hope to see you again.. Nathan

Two year old thread, but I just re-entered the hammock camping world and am saddened to hear this news. Marty provided me with my first ever tarp, the WL Tadpole. I still have it, almost a decade later, and loan it out to first timers wanting to try hammock camping often. A true testament to the quality of Marty’s products. RIP, my friend.
