Wonder where they got that idea?
Thanks for the share! I think I may need to keep an eye on this one!
Wow, ENO. Real shady thing to do, to copy an idea from a small American business.
I wonder how long it will take them to produce a cinch buckle or a copy of the turtledog stand.
Have the Dutch spreader bars evolved this year at all? While ENO is using the same concept, I like that it's a tad more plug-and-play--doesn't require the use of certain buckles or hardware, but should work with most suspensions. Though I'd be curious how durable this implementation is and whether there are any drawbacks. (I do have one of Dutch's spreader bars and a set of beetle buckles. I would guess the Dutch version is more durable by design than this ENO solution.)
Oh, I also noticed they gave a nod to one of Dutch's solutions at the end of the article as well.

They've had a turtledog clone for a bit now (not sure when it was released-- earlier this year maybe?)

Don't get me wrong, I prefer cottage vendors as well-- great value, quality and innovation coming from there. I'd take it over ENO any day-- this stand is limited to hammocks way too short for me to be comfortable in-- not worth the money. ENO is just good at mass marketing and have a recognizable brand, and they no doubt send their gear to these bigger publications to get it reviewed / publicity. As I mentioned above, Dutch is on their radar-- I won't be surprised to see Dutch gear (and other cottage vendors) get more and more exposure through channels like this as the popularity of hammocking continues to grow (though some of them may not want or need it at their current capacity-- there's still tons of room for growth in the industry).
And my 2 cents: I would bet a lot of cottage vendors benefit from ENO's mass market stuff. My first hammock was an ENO. Still gets used by my nieces and nephews today. Their product was visible enough that it got me sucked into the hammock scene. From there, I've spent an order of magnitude more money on cottage vendor products than I ever spent on ENO. This isn't the case for *everyone* that first tries and ENO, but I bet it happens more often than not for real enthusiasts. (And I have to acknowledge hammockforums.net's role in expanding my view to become aware of these cottage vendors...)
The terms of services of this honorable website prevents me from giving my opinion of my fellow countrymen taking my ideas and having them manufactured overseas so I won't.
Peace Dutch

I have no love for ENO.
Call them and see what kind of customer service you get. Zip, Zero, Nil, None.
I cannot count the Dutch items I have. Thank you Dutch.
But, copying and not claiming the source is more common than some would like to think. Shady that it is.
That has been a reason for me to stop/limit my support of some companies.

I collect vintage camp stoves.
I roast coffee at home.
Yea but it's still an ENO product which connects two ENO hammocks and most of us here know these are inferior to any of the hammocks available from our cottage vendors.
I'll stick with my plans to pick up a Dutch spreader bar for my Beetle Buckles.
This is as good a reason to avoid buying ENO as I've seen.
