How many do we have so far?
How many do we have so far?
I am trying to pull it together. I need to get an under quilt done. I nought a military intermediate cold mummy bag good to -10. I'm thinking about opening the foot end and adding channels all around for bungee. I'll add a BB&B down throw between the bag and hammock. I have a -10 Ozark Trail. I have an old sleeping bag I can use over my Ozark.
I have my tarp hung in the high winds out in the open right now. If it survives the night I will always be able to rust the stitching. I may be sleeping out here tomorrow all day (I work nights). A good test run.
I have an extra tarp and 11' hammock if any one wants to use them for this trip. You'll need you own guy lines. I have straps for hanging the hammock.

I'm still planning on it, the Friday afternoon start may prove tough, I unexpectedly had to take last Fri off work. May end up meeting you on trail but am working hard to see if I can still have off this Fri.
Weather seems to be looking good.
I hear water is scarce on this trail? (not much snow accumulation in Rochester/Henrietta)

I know of myself, a non-hammocker friend, stryder, and possibly XJ35S (plus yourself). Water is available on the first day at the ponds (teeter pond and Foster Pond) so we can break through the ice to get to it there, but the second day it seems a bit more scarce.
Would anyone be willing to meet me and my friend at the southern end with a vehicle so that my buddy and I can carpool and leave my vehicle at the southern end? We can act as transport back to the northern end on Saturday morning. If not then we can both drive so that we can get back to the northern trail head.
I'd be willing to help out with a ride if I can get one back ...
Is the lean to on the intinerary for anyone, looks like it' might have some good views
Happy to assist with rides; still working towards getting Fri off. Should know by Wed evening.
My rather optimistic idea is to hike the trail one way with Preacher & Co and then turn around and hike it back. If the lean to is not on the agenda on the 1st leg it can certainly be on second.
Is someone in the area that can provide accurate snow-on-ground information? Important to me for water as well as boot selection (clunky pac boots with removable liner, slightly lighter winter duck boots or water proof hikers). Doing trail both ways in pac boots is not so attractive. But neither is freezing feet.
I've been watching the weather, looks like it will be cold on Friday night mid 20s.
Saturday 40s with night lows in the 30s, Sunday.will be even warmer
Very little snow precipitation happening this week <2" and zero precipitation throughout the weekend.
Since we are going to be dropping a car off at the southern term I wouldn't mind leaving a water cache if it would be easily accessible and somewhat needed.
