Hey, this looks awesome. I'd love to meet up with some of you.... I stumbled across this board via the Midwest Adventurers on Facebook.
Da Shack looks pretty fantastic.

Da Shack is beyond fantastic!! Hope you can make it.
Goobie: you gotta understand... when I met WI BACKPACKER on FB, she was humbly boasting about winter camping in Feb. on the AT. We might have to wean her on to fall camping. Fall camping might be too easy for her.

Ha! Thank you Karla I am a shameless winter camping addict. Such a beautiful time of year, more room and empty trails.
Lapham Peak is close to my house though, maybe I can swing by and meet some of you when you're there. I could hike in with a snack or something, I've stayed there quite a few times.
Thank you!

WWEEEELLLLLLLLLL, had WIBackpacker posted an intro thread.....I might have known!!!!
All kidding aside, Welcome to the forum WIBackpacker. It would be great to have you at any, or all, of our group hangs. I too enjoy the peace and solitude of winter camping. Truly a wonderful time of year to be out in the woods.
...........and snacks are always welcome....
Whoops! Sorry.... forgot my manners. Fixed that.
I realize this is far in advance, but in this miserable hot weather I'd prefer to think about winter....
Is the hike from the car parking spot to da shack short enough to bring "good food", Dutch oven, etc - or better to just pack lightweight stuff? Dutch oven pizza in the winter is pretty superb...

Worst case, we park down by the road and hike in with ski pulks. It's not that far, but we'll probably be able to drive a few 4-wheel drive vehicles in and out if need be. I'm sure Goobie and I could see who would get stuck first!I say if you want to bring it, we'll find a way to get it in!

I also will have a 4WD Durango. We will be able to move everything / anything to da shack. We will find a way...
We also have parking at the homestead lawn North of Da Shack driveway entrance so you will not need to park on the side of the road. should you choose not to drive in.
My brother brings his Kia Soul, so I guess anything can make it.
However, I am not a weatherman, so we will take what we get.
Would like to make this group hang... not sure it'll work, but looks like a great time of the year !!
I want to make this but am going to need a full coverage tarp and add some insulating layers. We will see what happens.
Would love to test my F150 4x4! Otherwise, Ive got some snowshoes.
Winter is my fav time but just hard to justify the gear cost for everything i want to do!
