The build is a sewn channel, gathered end hammock with my version of the stretch side Knotty Mod.
I cut the fabric to a raw length of 12 feet. I sewed a 1/2" rolled hem on the sides but skip a 1/2" spot 24 and 48 inches from the head end and the same for the foot end. I did this on both sides. This creates an access point to run my 26" piece of shock cord in the seam. I add the micro cord locks on each end of the shock cord to allow for adjustability and as an anchor.
I fold over the ends 4 inches and fold that again to create a 2 inch channel. I then triple stitch that channel allowing for approximately 1 1/4" finished channel.
I thread a 24" piece of polyester webbing through a cinch buckle and sew it into a loop. I thread the webbing loop through the end channel and Lark's Head it onto itself.
The remainder of the webbing is cut in two and sewn into (2) 12' tree straps with a 2" loop sewn into one end.
I love the fabric! It has a firm feel and minimal stretch and with me being in the 250 lb range, I feel very comfortable and extremely secure. Even though this is somewhat a heavier fabric, it maintains very good breathability.
The added width is perfect for a good diagonal lay (I am 6' 1").
I am very happy with the way this hammock turned out!
I would highly recommend this fabric to anyone who is in the mid to upper 200 lb weight range or to anyone who is looking for a durable low stretch material.
