Just noticed Dutch has kevlar straps available. Read the description but am confused what the difference between huggers and straps are. His site is not the only place Ive seen it listed seperately. I bother Dutch enough....Figured Id ask you guys.

Both the same thing, unless Dutch is now selling environmental activists.

Huggers have loops on both ends, straps have a loop on one end. Straps are meant to be used with his cinch buckle system.
Every hike begins with the first step and ends with the last one, it is all the steps in between that create all the memories.
In some cases, they can be used the same way, but straps tend to be longer and work better with the cinch buckle system or with whoopies and toggles. Huggers work better with the whoopie hook system or the speed hooks. Watch Dutch's videos and everything will become clear.

I was wondering this same question. Seems to me, the huggers are the way to go if the lengths are equal. You can always make a marlin spike hitch/toggle to shorten the lengths up but having the loop on the end for worst case scenario seems like it would be helpful.
I have used both, and I prefer the tree straps over the huggers. To be able to use the second loop on the tree hugger, it needs to be in exactly the right place. In most situations I end up with the second loop too close to the hammock to just hook into it. If you're using any kind of buckle, it can be a bit of a bother to thread the loop end through the buckle. That's why I'm not using the huggers anymore.
If you wanted an "adjustable" loop, have a look at the Triglides JRB sells. They're not heavy, and you can create a second loop and put it exactly where you need it. Another option would be the Adutchable Clips.
Huggers can be too short for the Marlin Spike Hitch. I just switched to a Whoopie Hook system and my 6' huggers will not go around my favorite tree in the backyard, I have to use a 3' dogbone extension. No big deal, I just never had to do that with straps.
