they're not very popular, the little air bubbles are poor insulation and the reflective part is usually pretty flimsy and wears out pretty quick. if i was going to use something reflective i'd use something like the "thermadrape material" or a "heetsheet", and just use that to supplement more substantial insulation like ccf foam or an underquilt.

I carry one as a frame for my ULA Conduit, and if I need to, I put it in my Underquilt to give me a little more inulation. It is not substantial, but it works great in the Summer all by itself for me.

I have been using one for quite some time. It works well and seems to be holding up to the abuse.

Do you layer it with a pad or just that under you?

I might just try it for fun, not a big investment. or maybe just use it on the side of a pad, for extentions.

I've been experimenting with one from WM, this one is mylar laminated to a very thin closed cell foam instead of the bubbles. I've found that it adds just the right amount of insulation and radiant reflection to my open cell foam underpad and sil undercover to take me down to almost freezing (34 deg tested) with a 15 deg synthetic bag and base layer only. I'm sure I could go sub-freezing with fleece pants and jacket. Here's a recent thread about it:

I use a 'truck' model that I bought for about $15. It's very resilient and is large enough to cover the full length of the hammock. Just the right amount of warmth in the shoulder seasons.

Me too. I usually use a CCF pad on top of it mostly cause I don't like the feel of the shiny stuff. But it alone has gotten me down to mid 40s with a few degrees to spare.
