Little Shop of Hammocks - Warrior Edge

Update with the Warrior Model Lineup
I will be using the Edge cut in all my Warrior Hammocks
from this point forward. Sales have pointed me towards this
direction plus the number of inquiries asking about it.

It also distinguishes the Hammock itself from any other hammock
out there in the lay and the visibility provided. Still being an asymmetrical
hammock and different than any other sold.

    Something different.

I did some weight measurements on 1.6oz fabric hammocks with the Edge cut
and a 64" width which cut out 1.5-1.6 oz in the hammock. I have been using this
cut with my own personal 'Swift' model in a 62" cut using Robic fabric and have
yet to encounter any difficulties resulting with the cut and the light weight fabric.

Just a heads up! Just because the fabric is wide doesn't mean it doesn't have to
    be floppy as well.

    Cheers!
    James

Sounds good James. I salute your efforts for innovation.

I'm back from my first canoe trip of the season. My Warrior was very comfortable, for the first time in months I slept through the night. It is worth mentioning that not only the Warrior 'Edge' is innovative, but also the workmanship, attention to details and service puts it a couple of notches above the other hammocks I own or tried.

What if you wanted one of the original warrior designs? I love my daughters and have been saving up

I've been thinking about the Robic 1.0 but at 235lb I don't know if I'm cutting it too close so I was thinking either the Hexon 1.6 or the Flecktarn but then again coming from my HH Explorer deluxe I'm not searching for room just lighter weight so the Hexon 2.4 could work too. My daughter has the vader blue hexon 2.4 and I like the way that feels

Are there significant weight differences between the fabrics?

According to dutchwaregear.com Hexon 2.4 (60") is 4.15 oz/linear yard, Hexon 1.6 (60") is 2.84 oz/linear yard. The choice of fabric is a very personal choice, it depends if you like stretch or not.

I'm 163 lbs and don't like stretch. I tried Hexon 1.0, Hexon 1.6, Hexon 2.4, HH 1.7 Nylon taffeta and Warbonnet 1.7 Nylon Taffeta. Strictly for comfort, I prefer the Hexon 2.4 very marginally over Hexon 1.6. The fabric of my Warrior 'Edge' is Hexon 1.6 and I find it very comfortable. I tried the original Warrior and, in my opinion, there's a huge difference in overall comfort and feel with the 'Edge' cut. I strongly recommend that you get the 'Edge', you won't regret it. You're also going to save some weight compared to the original. If you like the feel of your daughter's Warrior, my guess is that Hexon 2.4 might be your best choice.

I promised James a review, which is still brewing, but here are some pictures of my warrior which James informs me received the 'edge' treatment.

Impressions so far are positive. Comparisons to Hennessy clearly favor the Little Shop of Hammocks Warrior Edge. The only shortcoming I encountered weren't for the warrior hammock, but that James didn't sell a ridgeline or pullouts for his tarp (I would have bought them if he did).

Themadindian, the Vader blue is actually RSBTR 's Hex70XL fabric. It's not as soft as the 2.4 hexon but very durable.

Nice pictures Quaid! Pull outs.. Hmm
