Gathered end hammock with spreader bar - would like info

Does anyone use a trekking pole as a spreader bar at the head end in a gathered end hammock? Any info will be appreciated - especially how you attach it.

I have sleep apnea and am supposed to sleep on my side. Side sleeping in my gathered end hammock pulls at my CPAP mask causing big leaks which drains the battery quickly.

I've seen gathered ends with a spreader bar on the head end in a video. But I have searched and not found much info here.

I think its worth a try for me. I have a good bit invested in my hammock set up and I'm not ready to ditch it for a bridge hammock.

Yeah, a lot of views on those pictures. Nice to know that many people have been interested enough to look!
I am going to do a thread on the spreader bar above the head, narrow hammock.
    I'll link it here.

Did you happen to look at it in Shug's video? Based on what he said, and it certainly seems that way, using a spreader bar in that fashion pretty much dictates laying straight in the hammock (and not on the diagonal.) I know I couldn't sleep well overnight like that but it seems to work for slowhike. And I'm also pretty sure that side-sleeping is a no-go. Can't say for certain but it sure looks that way.

This sort of reminds me of developments in the cross-country telemark ski. It started out like a regular XC ski. Then they added more sidecut. And they made it wider. Then they added more lockdown on the boots. Once all these refinements were added, they had reinvented the downhill ski.

Let's see, a spreader bar on a GE at the head ... You know, it would open it up even more if we added a spreader bar at the foot end too. I wonder what that would look like
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

It would be a Lawson and be all but unusable.
