I am not an expert on this subject but I think it has to do with which side of the bag the hot boiling water is in direct contact with. The heat itself may not degrade the plastic as much as direct contact with boiling water. I do know that the FDA has approval ratings for bags you put in boiling water and bags you pour boiling water into. And those standards apply to different bags. As far as I have been able to find out there is not one bag that is considered safe to use both ways.

That link above looks like the material Hawk Vittles uses, but without the zip (please add that!!)
This was my understanding, as well.

Hank Scorpio: Hammocks? My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that? Hammocks!

I'll take a large pepperoni with extra cheese and anchovies, and a 2 liter coke. Thanks.

I posted this the day we got licensed. We are working getting it all updating the site. There is a huge amount of work from packaging, labeling, website updates and procedures. I was excited to get my license and was excited to share the good news. I am sorry if that was interpreted as we are ready to sell. When you see what I am going to be offering, you will understand why it is taking some time.
    Peace Dutch
