I'm not sure how much of an issue it is for the OP or anyone else for that matter...but the need for gear storage is addressed in our sewn on door mod and also with the Grizz beak concept. Without checking all the tarps available with integral doors, I suspect most are just "close off" in function and do not create additional room for gear storage, either hung from the suspension or placed on the ground.

I added doors to my silnylon tarp years ago. Made up patterns from newspaper and mulin. I show them on the video below and talk about them.
    Carry forth....

Thanks, Shug. I know you've stated that you'll never do a sewing tutorial, but what kind of sewing machine do you use. I need to teach myself in the ways of the sewer.

Yes, as long as you have the "symmetrical hex" version. Hennessy had been making an asym model for awhile and the Grizz beak won't fit the longer asym side.

Grizz shows it on an asym tarp on our website video, but you will notice the longer asym side is open.

Great! Thanks for the info. I love my HH tarp and would rather not fork out money for yet another one just get doors.

Sounds like a plan....but don't forget, we can always sew permanent doors on your tarp. One end or both ends. Less material involved with sewn on doors over Grizz beaks, same coverage, a bit less weight.

Shug had another mod in the middle of a tarp video (link below) that I stole/implemented. He went to the four lower corners of a pitched hex tarp and sewed a tie-out for each corner, which resulted in a total of 8 tie-outs for the tarp (not including the ridgeline attachment). Then he was able to fold the original corners over the open end of the tarp to act as doors. Just used some 3/4inch webbing and plastic d-rings I had from other DIY projects and sewed it by hand. It took about an hour, was very inexpensive and gave my older tarp new life (giving me more enjoyment without getting in the way of saving up for new down UQ and TQ).

The tarp with the mod I am referring to is the second tarp in the video. Shug starts the lesson at about 6:30 on the tape.

    I hope this helps!
