Hello from the great white north!

I've been hammocking for years but just started backing packing and camping with one last year. I love camping in the winter up here...no bugs! My gears needs a little improvement but that'll come as funds become available. As far as my budget gear goes, I really like the wise owl stuff. I have multiple hammocks, a rainfly, a bugnet, and a couple underquilts that I stack in cold weather. I have been eyeing hard the 11ft netless from Dutchware.

My question for the seasoned vets is this; the netted hammocks intrigue me but I'm afraid of getting bit through the bottom side in the summer with no insulation. Is that a problem with these hammocks or am I paranoid?

Really enjoying all the info and seeing what others are rocking out there. Thank you all

Welcome! I've heard of people getting bit through the hammock so your fears aren't unfounded. You could use a pad which would help. Personally I'm a cold sleeper and have come to realize I need an under quilt year round so I'll always have some bottom protection from the bugs.

Unsure where exactly you live, but we've got a hang in Iola (https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...022-Central-WI) this weekend and you'll be able to see a ton of different set ups. We'll talk your ear off about hammocks!

If there's any gear you need to borrow for the weekend, just post in the thread, we've got extras of everything!
