    Is Robic Really Robic?

I am looking into my next project and can’t find any information about lightweight robic fabric. I have read on here of some failures. RSBTR is the only place I have seen robic this thin. Is this genuine robic fabric?

Robic is exclusively manufactured for RSBTR, so if you're buying from them, you are getting genuine Robic fabric.

My Robic 1.7 Hammocks are my go to gear right now, and have taken a great deal of use without wear! I have 2 Robic chameleon clones and one of Just Bills Luxury bridges made from it!

I have a Robic 1.0 GE that's been in service for a year without issue.

Although relatively small in number compared to the total amount of yardage sold for hammock use, we have seen some durability issues with the 1.0 oz ROBIC XL specifically. This is an extremely lightweight hammock fabric, likely the lightest to ever be put into mass use.

Pushing the envelope on fabric is integral to our mission as a company, but the fact is that we've easily had more issues with 1.0/1.1 oz ultralight hammock fabrics than all others combined. To that end, we made a company decision earlier this year to stop development on any future 1.0/1.1 oz hammock specific fabrics. In the case of 1.0 oz ROBIC XL, we've been phasing that out for some time in favor of our 1.2 oz ROBIC XL Hybrid. From speaking with several vendors on this general topic over time, I can tell you that many share the same sentiment when it comes to making ultralight hammocks. Some have removed 1.0/1.1 oz fabric options (ROBIC, nylon 6.6, or other) altogether for this very reason.

Oh wow, what a pity. I have always been hoping for a 1.0oz HyperD XL version. It's my absolute favorite fabric for a double layer hammock. Have you been seeing failures in double layer hammocks, too? I think it's sad that the choice in 1.0/1.1oz fabrics will be limited just because some people feel the need to shave grams in the wrong places. If the lightest fabrics available are 1.6oz, it will make double layer hammocks a lot heavier.

Will you be phasing out the MTN 1.1 ripstop, too?

I have multi-year Robic 1.0 and poly ripstop 1.1 hammocks that are, knock on wood, doing great. However, I made those hammocks and take very good care of them. I imagine that making them commercially and selling to the broad public is a tough putt for many businesses from a customer satisfaction perspective.
