I just called the office. Printing out your reservation confirmation email and having it with you is fine.

Also, in case it isn't obvious, chances are high that this year won't exactly be an overly organized "Winter Hang" in the same way it has been in past years. Most sites are booked, and there will be a bunch of folks in hammocks out enjoying the woods for the weekend, but don't count on a large group cooking area (unless people feel moved to set one up), no cooking competition, no raffle, or any other formal stuff like that.

My recommendation (for what it's worth) is to come prepared to fend for yourself, and I guess we'll see what develops from there.

You do not have to check in just bring copy of your reservation. I was there in November I called ranger office that is what they told me.

Got a call from Wharton State Forest this morning - I was sleeping and didn't want to hear what they had to say so I went back to bed. When I woke up, I checked the voicemail. A nice lady said that my reservations this weekend (1/28 - 1/29) were being cancelled due to heavy snow (1 to 2 feet), high winds, coastal flooding and brutal wind chill. She said it was too dangerous for camping so all reservations were being cancelled and fully refunded.

So that tells me that the website isn't broke, that camping is allowed, but just not this weekend. So my 2/4 -2/5 reservations are good!

I haven't been to Batona Camp since the snow storm, but I seriously doubt there's much snow left after three days of melting temps and rain in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow.

I'm also getting notifications from the USGS streamflow website indicating that the snow is melting pretty rapidly.
