Feel swallowed up using my Eno doublenest

I have not used my Eno Doublenest very much (and not a big hammock user to start with, so my knowledge is limited) but every time I try to use it I feel swallowed up by the fabric that wraps up around me on the sides. I end up with a slit of opening at the top and can no longer see the campsite and scenery around me.

I've tried 'laying sideways' by partially laying offset in it but either I'm doing it wrong or it just isn't helping. Suggestions?

You might try several different hammocks, to match your comfort levels along with a good view of your surroundings.
Possibly a hammock 11 feet by 5 feet or maybe a few inches wider than 5 feet.
Many bridge hammocks allow more visibility.

If you go to a group hang, you will see a great variety of hammocks. You might be invited to try several hammocks—to narrow down your choices

Eno doubles are really wide and have all that extra fabric so two people can sit side by side and lounge sideways. Also the ENO is sorta short at 9' 6".
Almost all my hammocks are 11' long and 60" wide so no extra material to flap over you.
A longer hammock may serve you well.

I’m new so take this with a grain of salt. I asked the same question about a Singlenest in another thread and the consensus was that these models are too short to get a proper flat lay. Mine tries to roll me up like a burrito. I returned it. It might be fine for lounging in but I can’t see getting a night’s sleep in it.

I will also ask if you have proper hang angles. If your suspension is too tight, it tends to wrap up more. Watch some of Shugs videos. He's the man....

If you haven’t already, try a structural ridge line. It will help get ya a bit more angled in the hammock

Stretchier fabrics will also cause this problem. If you upgrade your hammock, you will want a less stretchy fabric and shallower sag angle. That basically describes a Warbonnet Blackbird hammock.

Regardless of the style or brand, any gathered end hammock that you lay in "at an angle" will have one low-wall (near your head) and one high-wall (opposite your head). If that bothers you, you will want to look into a getting a "bridge" style of hammock.

There's also the SLD streamliner, which essentially has the wall bits cut off.

ENOs are pretty famous for fabric flap. Buying a "double" only makes it worse.
Short and wide is just no way to make a hammock, let alone get a comfortable hang.

Even if you only want one for casual use, a better hammock will give you a lot more comfort, and make you a lot happier.
That's why a lot of people on here suggest that you "buy your second hammock first". They talked me into it. My ENO went back to Amazon within the first two weeks.

I’ve had mine too long to return it. And so far I don’t do enough hammock hanging to warrant investing in another. We just sometimes hang it on camping trips, maybe hang in it a little while. Not hammock camping.

Glad to know it isn’t just me! I’ll just try to deal with it and then do more research if I ever decide to buy a replacement.
