    Anniversary!

I just noticed today is my Hammock Forums anniversary! What a coincidence.

In 7 years I still haven’t managed to make my minimum 50 posts. Even though I haven’t made a lot of comments I have learned SO much from all of you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything, I truly appreciate it everyone!

    All the best,

    Rob

Good to have you on here if you’re posting or reading. Have you been to a hang yet? That’s always fun. Met some good folks in real life from the forums.

No, haven’t been to a hang yet. I will one of these days. My job and family make it tough to get away for more than a 1-nighter. My goals are to get to a frozen butt hang eventually and organize a hang in my neighborhood.

I use an 11ft GE, 58” w. I’ve used a Dutch netless for winter camping for years with an HG 3/4 Phoenix 20 degree and HG 20 TQ. In 2014 when I started I really got into the DIY aspects of hanging because I really enjoy the “fiddle factor”. Ordered a ton of Zing-it and Amsteel and made all my own whoopies and ridgelines and whatnot. So I primarily use whoopies and a marlin spike. Then I got into the Costco quilt craze and made about a dozen (literally) UQ/TQ sets for layering. I even DIY’d a double hang set up for the wife and I. That’s a lot of fun when we get a chance to hit the trail together. I’d say I’ve probably ironed out all my issues by now except for a general lack of time to enjoying setting everything up these days, what with the wife and kids and all.

    Thanks for asking!

Very nice set up. I love the winter pictures. What is your coldest overnight temp?

I have made it down to 30F but not interested in anything colder.
