Question Looking for the Ultimate Hammock Trip Location

If you could go anywhere in the US for a week of hammock camping where would you go? Presume money is not an issue. Why would you go there? What does that location offer?

I am planning to go hammock camping with friends later this spring (hopefully if the lockdowns lift) and want to go someplace that we will never forget. Since we are all coming from different parts of the country and will need to travel anyway - our location options are opened.

I sure do appreciate all the section hikes I've done on the Appalachian Trail: Virginia, Wet Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey. Each state is different. Maybe you could do the state of Maryland in a week - I think it's only 41 miles across. NJ only has 58 miles of the Appalachian Trail, as I recall. New York doesn't have much more.

I also like upstate New York: the Catskills and Adirondacks are beautiful. There are lots of lakes up there for incredible canoe or kayak camping. It takes a lot of planning to survive in upstate New York - I reconnoitered a trip in the Adirondacks (along with my two sons) for three years before I got up the nerve to do it!

There are certain times you don't want to be in upstate New York - like bug season. I have no interest in wearing a full body bugnet, but they sell them like hotcakes in May and June. I've always visited in August through October, so no worry about bugs.

Island of Kauai in HI. ... You said money was no issue... I camped HERE a number of years ago. Spent my days in the ocean and my nights in my hammock. Unforgettable experience.

Are you car camping, or backpacking and want to do a loop, or end-to-end, or doing a short hike in and "base" camping in one spot and doing day hikes?

These are huge factors in your selection. Otherwise it's like saying "I want to buy a nice car. What do you recommend?"

We are very flexible. Many of us have hiked parts of the AT PCT and other areas, like many groups of friends some are in better shape than others. I know that does not exactly answer your question but we are not locked into one type of excursion.

Them https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boun...rea_Wilderness look nice. At least Shug makes them look purdy. Wouldn’t mind a week or two up there.

Yep, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Gorgeous rugged scenery, unique canoe camping experience, relatively inexpensive, very few people, plenty of trees to hang from.....
