    Reversible hammock chair Underquilt

I originally built this for use while doing animal photography, or hunting. But that may be a bad idea. It's one of those things that sucks the awake right out of you, leaving you waking up an hour later very comfortable and well rested. But missing whatever you were hunting for.. But I figured I'd share

This is my third design tweak, and I have materials incoming for an improved design.
Insulation is double layer Climashield 2.5 oz/yard With a blaze orange inner layer, and a Multicam 1.9 outter layer. It allow you to either blend in, or be visible. The pillow shown is stuffed with loose fill primaloft, but made of the same shell materials. I just took a 2 hour nap in this outside in 37° weather. I'd say maybe a few degrees lower, and it'd be maxed.

I don't have a weight yet.. As everything is packed together in a bishop bag: the hammock chair, underquilt, pillow and small prototype tarp stuff down to the size of a stuffed Warbonnet superfly.

The chair itself serves as an all in one, chair, pack cover, torso length UQP, small tarp, gear hammock and water bag. The chair is made of 1.5 epsilon with an additional breathable spray on silicone treatment. It's using Dutch's new speedhook suspension system.

Good looking project. Interested in your future mods.

I use a turkey hunting vest in my hammock chair. It has an insulated back and a drop down insulated seat portion.

    Very interesting....
So you straddle the low rope?
Have you seen the Hammock seat?
It uses a tree strap and then a post leg that goes back against the anchor tree
It is comfy but of course has the weight of the post.

I would be interested in this if you can stay close to your anchor tree.
    Ground hunting is fun.

Do you have a photo of you sitting in it?

Not with the underquilt.. But I do have one of me in just the hammock chair

You can get as close or as far from the main anchor tree as you want.. The only reason my chair is configured like that is because the foot end is a Bipod hammock stand and the only point to mount anything is 4' off the ground.

That being said, I have made a smaller pole system for the foot end {2' tall) to give me a clear shot anywhere in front of me.

That looks great. I am wondering if I could use one of these duck hunting. Have you tried shooting from it?

Hunter Killer, you da real MVP.

Seriously, if you made these on the regular (and I weren't dirt floor poor) I'd buy one up in a heartbeat. Clever stuff.
I used to be a somebody, now I just camp.

I'll bring it back on topic

One of the main reasons I got into Hammocking was so I could have a good Backpacking Hunting rig.
I wear a Tree Saddle instead of using a Tree Stand.
Having a Hammock based seat for Ground Hunting would be cool.
Especially one that didn't require a "leg"

And a Mini Hammock "Lounger" would roll up to nothing in a pack.
    I'm very interested in this.

    One more thing...
    In my Hammockseat from http://www.fanaticoutdoors.com/product/hammock-seat/
I got "Cold Butt Syndrome" (before I had a name for it).
I was hunting in 5F-15F with some wind.
I was suited up pretty good too.

NOW I know I need a little UnderQuilt for it.
