THIS IS MY FIRST POST HERE......
Just wondering if anyone had considered using 1" UHMWPE webbing with the turtle tie?
I was thinking that in the event one was to lose an Amsteel Suspension strand, the 1" webbing could be used in a pinch.
The 1" webbing passes through the turtle body easily.
I tested this and when locked down I got no slipping. Im 6' and 215#. I also then added a second wrap and a becket hitch to finish it off just for an added non-slip peace of mind. Spent a couple hours in the hammock with no issues. I am a bit worried about wear on the webbing, anyone have any thoughts?

Uncle Mike, Welcome to the forum.
I don’t use that webbing myself, but I do have a few turtles. Thank you for posting one example of how they can be used.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.
My new DIY bridge I use Turtles with I use dyneema huggers & Amsteel, and not two hours ago I was sitting in it the amsteel slipped. In fast slow motion I slid to the floor. Not hurt, but I had missed the one wrap under the turtle's armpit. Fugal has a video where he shows you how to do the simple method or do the double wrap...definitely do the double wrap! Saves your cheeks and a mild jostle for your brain.
Not sure about the strap wear, but on Amsteel the worst that happens is it flattens out a bit when it goes over the shoulder/under the armpit of the turtle. I've only had them a few days but I really like the simplicity of it. Not sure I'd let my 300lb friend jump up and down in my bridge hammock with them on there but they work for my sub-150 weight.
I'm told the purple turtles don't slip.
Yeah, don't do that
But in all seriousness, bridge hammocks do put more tension on the suspension than (properly hung) gathered end hammocks will. I use Turtle Ties on my bridge hammock without the extra flipper lock but I weigh a bit under 200 lbs. If you're much over 200 then you should definitely be using the flipper lock.

Picked up some Turtle Ties to upgrade my UL suspension option this weekend. If my calculations are correct, I’ll have a full 10’ suspension under 1.7 oz.
Pretty good for hanging in the woods of PA where trees are not hard to find!

I'm ordering 1 of each color (2 of the red)... if there were more colors, I'd probably order them , too!
