I do like the privacy of a big tarp, especially since a lot of my camping and hiking is with the scouts, but there is something to be said being able to sit in my chair under my Superfly even with a good storm blowing.

I have a question on the WB Superfly. I was thinking of sending mine back to have a center internal pole mod added but I was wondering if anyone knows of a vendor that would add 2 end internal pole mods instead? I love the way the end pole mods open up the tarp. I was thinking of ordering some pole pockets from 2QZQ but my sewing skills aren't the best to attach them myself.
if you want to try a pole mod on the easy and cheap, just get some beastee dee rings, and clip the back "buckle" part, and slide them onto the existing tie outs
you can use them to hold poles
if it doesn't work out for you, just take them off
worst case scenario, you toss away $3
1/2" beastee dee's fit the end of a pole perfectly

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I have to buy the poles anyways so worth a few dollars to see if this works
Doesn't take a lot to sew them on.. Add a piece of reinforcement grosgrain to the seam of your Superfly and sew a few straight stitch lines across the edge..
Here is a closeup of a set of 2QZQ pockets I added to my SF (added an extra tie out loop as well).
Ultimately sold my SF and MYoG'd two Silpoly tarps with DIY pole pockets...
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

The 2QZQ pockets look too big to be used for end pole mods but I like the DIY version for that. Waiting on the beastee dees to arrive to see how they work out
Chiming in with not much value, but...
2qZq equipped my SF with pole pockets, corners and mids, for a 3 pole system. I love it. Porch mode pops up like an RV awning and the snow/wind load when battened down is premium ( think 4-season tunnel tents ). Also incredible with bridge hammocks as people have mentioned.
Added weight, yes. But... better to have the pole mod sewn in and not use it than to not and deal with saggy panels and jerry/rigging a clumsy pole system.
$.02
Headed to the Oregon Yeti Hang next week - I’ll shoot a quick 3 pole vs. 2 pole vs. 1 pole tarp video if anyones still interested.
