I have drilled out the center of a couple of Lego heads. Lego makes an incredibly durable product. Think of these as the Amsteel of toys.

Those Lego heads are rad! I just made whoopie slings and did not use a bead, both of them got sucked into themselves on a recent trip. I will use beads next time, but is there any hope of saving these? Is there a method top get it out/redo them?

Mind over matter,
if you don't mind, it don't matter
I've used small zipties to replace broken beads.
Instead of beads, I used a common whipping of dental floss. I had to do this because I already made the Whoopi Slings. It has saved me from losing the loop in therr more than once. I put the whipping (just 1/2" or so) just above the hole the sliding bury goes through. Works great.
This is another option for completed whoopies.
Here's how it's done...

I like the short piece of cord buried. Makes for a clean look.
However, I do put a short taper on both ends. It's still effective and I avoided creating a high stress point. Failures in buries always occur where the diameter suddenly changes.
Of course this can't compete with OCDave's Lego heads, especially if they glow in the dark! Lol

Also, tie a knot to the bottom to stop it from sliding through.
