    alright, heres the real deal:

    https://youtu.be/Rk-P-MVnMPk

both building the knot and then unbuilding the knot described here. sorry it took me so long, i was making attempts from the Jphone and they were failing so i had to fix the puter. i got the vid done, and its being uploaded as i type this so i'll just paste the link in above and hopefully this helps some of you see the light lol. you'll have to forgive the wind and my squirrley volume. if thats not enough, let me know and i'll try to do a detailed picture sequence. mention the parts that stump you and i'll work towards that for you.

SIDENOTE: Amsteel - Amsteel J-Bend tends to bind really tightly due to the compressible properties of the Amsteel, and once i discovered that i sort of abandoned the idea for my own setup entrely. i'll always have extra lengths (or dogbones, if you will) near by in case i need an extension so i may be forced to work with it. if you follow my de-build advice, it should help with the amsteel binding, but i havent actually tested that de-build method yet so keep me updated.

ODE TO ALL VIDEO MAKERS LIKE PHANTOM AND SHUG: that was super lame the whole time i was trying to deal with it. in every aspect. and it STILL came out alright, HA!

Theguywitheyebrows that was a great video! We are our worst critics. That's a fast light setup. What suspension are you using now?

Just regular old camo poly straps from dutch, but I use 12' to ensure ill have enough for around the bigger trees and to make the really long spans work out. When i find my charger for my cybershot, or my new river uq comes in (which ever happens first), i plan to do a video showing my whole setup and all the little convenience things i do to make everything flow. I have a few other lil things i think may help some of you. Somehow, uploading that video made it feel concrete: i created a thing, and you all use it, and it works, AND IT HAS MY NAME ON IT \m/ i don't know anyone cooler than me. Well, except most of you guys

That looks like a solid setup. My question would be- have you tried the Becket Hitch ala Derek Hansen?

The BH seems to be an easier knot both to tie, and to adjust if needed. I use it when my hang is too short for one or both whoopie slings.

    As always HYOH!

(Note I haven't read through this whole thread, just the last several entries. Forgive me if this has been discussed.)

Thats kinda where we started, i was praising that one and the SOB (read back for info) intil the SOB capsized on me (creating a battle worthy of song to remove it) and the becket hitch is susceptible to "if you dont dress it properly, gravity will attack"the J-bend is more secure, easier to ensure it is done right, and a beeeze to debuild. Plus, it is totally named after me \m/

All part of the continuous quest for hammock improvement, which usually results in additional options to HYOH.
