I'm not sure I agree with the methodology since he's basically using a faucet on the suspensions. Rain doesn't fall like that. I think the Dutch whoopie hook and biners perform a lot better in actual rain than in the test. Informative, nevertheless.

Most hardware like carabiners and cinch buckles you would think does the job to divert the water and prevent seepage, but water has a way of skipping past all that. Just make sure your drip line and any part of your suspension below the drip line, is under the tarp and isn't exposed to rain.
