I just got back from the BWCA. Most of the tree options for hanging were balsam firs, which tend to ooze sap like crazy, and got sap on the tree straps. I had the hammock (WBBB) in a bishop bag, so I'd leave the straps outside the bag and put the whole thing in a dry bag. The sap's still on the straps, although not as sticky as it originally had been.

Any ideas for cleaning? As they're now not as sticky, but just have a whitish residue, is it something you'd even bother cleaning?
