Let me start off by saying that I do not own a single hammock as of yet. I am just looking into this as an option as far as something to spend my free time enjoying (I'm normally very busy). I have a metal stand from an old hammock to hook it to to enjoy in the back yard, and I am wanting to try building my own. The only problem is that I do not know how to sew, I was thinking I might con a family member into sewing the hammock for me and then maybe the tarp when Its time for me to build one (going to start with a cheap standard blue tarp from Harbor Freight for now. I already know what kind of suspension I want to use for hanging my hammock when I get around to hanging in the trees. So, my question is how hard is that hammock going to be to make? I like the 2 layers design, and I want to add the Bug Net at a later date. If I take a short lesson on sewing from the aforementioned family member, would this be something I could take on easily without fear of ruining material, etc. Also Im thinking 1.9 Ripstop Nylon for the hammock. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Also, if it matters, My budget is TIGHT to say the least, any input on cheaper fabric that could be just as strong would be appreciated.
