Nobody has any problems with vacuum making it difficult to open as long as you fill it to the top?
Has anyone tried putting the bottle into a small dry bag to arrest any leaks should any sort of failure occur?

Many put the bottle in something like a felt bag so they don’t burn their skin with direct content against the bottle’s side. The top closure is a challenge because some are slightly distorted by the heat and loosen up - or tighten up in you case - by the temperature change. A zip lock bag might be good insurance but maybe better to use a bottle you know won’t leak.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.
Wow! Did it cause condensation to form on anything? Was it straight boiling water or near boiling? Plastic bottle or metal water bottle? This sounds so promising!
I use a narrow mouth plastic Nalgene water bottle filled with nearly boiling water and placed in a DIY fabric and insulation cover made to fit. No condensation and it has never leaked- pure luxury on a cold night.
I have a very thin Nalgene brand neoprene sleeve which works great. It lets the heat out slower so it lasts longer. The UVPE (I think it's like HDPE) Nalgene bottles are perfect for this. Cheap at $7 or less and rated to 248°F so obviously no worry there.
There were even some nights where I woke up around 4am with cold feet and quickly reheated the water to ensure some comfy sleeping. It makes a huge difference.
I use a metal KleenKanteen bottle with near boiling water and found that it is still warm the next morning. The lid sits perfectly tight. I usually wrap it in a scarf to prevent burns and if I wake up during the night and the water has cooled down some, I unwrap the bottle.
