Video: How to hammock camp with a dog.

have you considered a full tent setup over your hammock? something like the "smokehouse" tarp? you have full walls and doors that can close in so the pup is inside the tent with you. i'm considering this, but i have 2 gsd's and i need more space. the smokehouse is assymetrical and has the "tent shape" only on stove side and does a pyramid slant on the hammock side so the room is not quite there for 2 dogs or a large bear like you have.

Unfortunately Storm is getting old, and his eyesight is starting to go, as much as I would love to take him with, the only trips we do together is some rides down the back roads in the pickup. "YES HE IS SECURED IN THE BACK" he loves to ride.

The smoke house looks way cool.
