Hey y’all,

I’m from Alabama and I have been hammock camping for a long time with the scouts but until last year it was just the basic ENO Doublenest and Profly setup. I wasn’t aware of underquilts or whoopie slings or anything like that until I decided I wanted to thru-hike the AT and I wanted to do it with a hammock.

I did a bunch of research and landed on a Blackbird XLC, Mountain fly, Yeti underquilt, and HG topquilt setup for my hike. I did 165 mile hike on the trail in October from Franklin NC to Hot Springs NC. That was my first true test of real hammocking and it was awesome.

I left from Hot Springs on the last day of February to finish up the other 2000ish miles of the AT and I’m now in Front Royal just past the Shenandoahs at mile 972 (my trail name is “Straps if any of y’all are on the trail). When I get off the trail (hopefully sometime in July) I’ll be going to college at Auburn.
