I am trying to simulate two trees so I can play with a lot of different hammocks with minimal fuss. I also need to be able to break it all down. I'm planning on the single-post guyed out model, but I want to bounce it off you folks to see if I'm overlooking anything.

The vertical posts are 8 foot long landscaping timbers. They're half the price of a pressure treated 4x4 and their rounded faces are easier on the suspension. The base would sit on a paver or something. I am not sure I really need to fasten the base to the ground. If I do, I have extra ground anchors I can fasten it to. The lateral forces toward the bottom should be so minimal that it wouldn't take much of an anchor.
The distance between the posts is 15 feet (that WBRR likes its elbow room.)

Guy lines and ridge line are vinyl jacketed steel cable. I can use carabiners to attach to the anchors and timbers for quick tear down.

Ground anchors are these 16" spiral jobs.

I have great success with those anchors in my soil. They're the kind that you can leave in the ground and mow right over them since the eye loop folds down flat.

The timbers will have appropriately sized eye bolts, not eye screws, as attachment points for guy lines.

I figure once I get it all setup and tensioned out, successive setups should be fairly quick if I leave the anchors in the ground.

I'm sure some of you have done this setup. Any feedback?
