During my backpacking trip over New Year's and on my first night out, I staked the tarp corner tie outs low to the ground to help keep potential wind & rain off my dog while he slept under the hammock. In doing so, I lost a fair amount of room under the tarp due to the tarp side walls being more vertical than I normally prefer, so I've decided I'd like to try my hand at adding pullouts to the tarp.
The tarp material is Xenon 1.1 and I plan on using the same material or maybe Xenon .9 for the pullouts. The thing I'm wondering about is whether to sew them on or glue them on. For the adhesive I've considered contact cement which when bonded, makes a strong, permanent bond. If I sew the pullouts on the sidewalls it'll add a little weight, plus I'll have to seam seal everything.
I've done searches here & have a fair idea of the direction I want to go with this but would appreciate any feedback from those who have tackled the job, i.e., pros & cons of one method over the other, other adhesives to consider, circular vs. rectangle, helpful hints, etc.
