Hello all,
I've been browsing the forum for awhile and appreciate all the helpful info.
My wife and I bought some Wise Owl hammocks for the kids. She asked if I wanted one too. Sure... I'll give it a try Little did she know she created a monster.
I'm a total convert from tent camping to hammock.
I've been using myself as a guinea pig to determine what works well or not before I update the kids setups. I've been looking for something that they can do easily enough so they can set themselves up quickly and safely. So far I've updated my suspension to include: diy continuous loops, whoopie slings, whoopie hooks, tree huggers and a UCR ridgeline. I'm currently in the process of creating a Costo underquilt (I'm done with waking up cold!). Today I ordered a tarp (didn't go the DIY route since I wanted it to look nicer than I trusted my sewing skills).
So far everything has been working well together. The adjustable lines are great over just the cord that came with the hammocks. I also went with tree huggers to have the option to larks head the whoopies or if too short, marlin spike it.
The temperature looks to be holding up this weekend so hopefully I can give everything a test run.
Attached image is of the kids at North Manitou island (Michigan) while we waited for the ferry.
Thanks again for all the info!
