TFC Rick, If it will help get her to the Florida Hang I'll have my TurtleDog stand there.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
I was the one who started a thread about hanging in a tent. My son and I went camping and I came up with the idea when he couldn't/wouldn't sleep alone in a hammock and I didn't want to sleep on the ground. The tent is 9 feet on a side and I put holes though the corners and ran the lines kitty corner. I used a eno dn and it worked fine. Tent repair kit later fixed the holes.
Carpe noctem!!
Alright this is definitely our next project. Sorry to bump up an old thread but this is so rad.
The Smokehouse Outfitter 2 is basically a tent designed for a hammock.
Aim for the moon, if you miss, at least you will still be among the stars.
Before I started poking holes in a tent, I'd look into either diy'ing or commissioning a "hot tent", with the possible exception of you maybe wanting a "cool tent" in FL. Could probably be designed around two hammocks with spreader bars.

weird, i was just thinking similarly. a hammock is comfortable but for a trail with lots of rain or cold it would be nice to be "indoors" sometimes, fully enclosed and able to sit on the ground and do things...so just extend the tarp down to the ground with doors...done. some kind of ground sheet and you're done. the tarp gets a little heavier but might be offset by needing less insulation since you're in a windproof enclosure.
I just did this in my hunting camp.

Why not bring a separate shelter with bug protection to lounge in and just sleep in your hammock setup?
