I've already made some whoopie slings out of 1/8" Amsteel and am wondering if they will work with DW whoopie hooks? Or do I have to stick with 7/64"? I don't see an extra 1/64" being an issue, but I've made bad assumptions before.

Not gonna work very well, at least not for me. The 7/64" is 8 strand, 1/8" is 12 strand. I was able to work the 1/8" into the whoopie hook but had a heckuva time working it out.
It works as the whoopie but you should have 7/64 as the continuous loop.

OK, so my fears about the 1/8" being too thick were well-founded. Luckily, I've got less-than-ideal (first attempt) 7/64" whoopie sling so I'll scrap that and use it for the loop.
One more thought: is it safe to say that the whoopie hook acts as a good break for water flow from the suspension? Perhaps also with a drip line? That's why I'm thinking of this setup.
Whoopie hook works great by itself to keep water away from the hammock. No additional drip line required.
